Travel Forever on $20 a Day - Vanabode

Travel forever on $20 a day!

I don't even have a van, but there are so many principles that can be applied to other forms of camping, such as cooking strategies, making the most of the traveling life, how to take showers and maintain proper hygiene, and where to camp for free (I had no idea you could do that in national forests without permits!) Just knowing that this lifestyle can and does happily exist is inspirational itself. And yet, the author's message isn't at all the "tune in, turn on, drop out" variety as one might expect from a book on living out of a camper van. Instead, it's a call to action to live life to the fullest, savoring every bit of the country's natural riches.
It also convinced me that despite the shininess of RVs and the amenities of motorhomes, plain white vans (cheaper, better mileage, more discreet, more maneuverable) are really the better buy. And anyone who travels the country with her husband and pet rabbit, in my opinion, wins at life!

Overall, this book awakens a spirit of adventure. Even if you're not planning to chuck it all and live out of a van immediately, it's still fun to dream about. And this book may very well convince you to make that dream a reality.
